* The CWPAA NPDES subcommittee is embarking
on a data collection effort to determine the status of individual plants' NPDES permits.
The committee needs to receive copies, faxed or mailed, of your current NPDES permit as
well as any modifications to this permit issued by DEP over the previous years. We ask
that you take a few minutes to forward a copy of the permit to:

Data from these permits, primarily the status of Water Quality-based Permit Limits,
will be compiled by the CWPAA NPDES committee. The CWPAA is pursuing action on behalf of
the community of Connecticut wastewater treatment plant operators in order to review and
improve the requirements that DEP is placing on these discharges.

* NEWEA's Kowsz Scholarship is open to anyone in the
wastewater field who needs money for education. The money can be used for training which
is associated to the wastewater field. Examples: technical sessions, seminars, college,

* Nominations are needed for this year's NEWEA
"Operator of the Year Award" and the "Alfred E. Peloquin Award." Glenn

* Applications sought for the WEF Quarter Century Operators
Club. The Quarter Century Operators Club is a group of members of any Member
Association or a member of the Professional Wastewater Operations Division of the
Federation. Criteria:
- Must be a member of the Water Environment Federation
- Must have been a significant, full-time participant in the water environment industry
for a period of 25 years, 10 years of which must have been actively involved in the
day to day collections, maintenance, operations, laboratory, or management of a wastewater
transportation or treatment facility
- Must submit an application for membership consideration to the Federation office by July
1 of the year to be considered at the Annual Meeting of the Federation Board of Directors.
The application must be accompanied by a complete and detailed resume of experience.
Applications for membership are available from the Federation Awards Department. Applications
must reach the Water Environment Federation Awards Department by July 1.
