Vivendi to Buy U.S. Filter
| Vivendi SA is buying U.S. Filter Corp. for about $6.2
billion in cash, enabling the French conglomerate to get a stronger foothold in the U.S.
water market. The transaction would be the largest French acquisition ever made in the United States. The combined company would have more than $12 billion in annual revenue and the deal would nearly double revenues of Vivendi's water-treatment business, Generale des Eaux, of Paris.
