| Pittsburgh Authority must choose among 7 top private
water companies By Larry Chertoff Saturday, January 20, 2001 The Pittsburgh Water & Sewer Authority board released the names of seven firms vying to take over management of the authority:
The board fired its four top managers in December, saying private management would improve efficiency. The move will not lead to privatization of the water system or the authority's work force, Preston said. The authority will meet with the firms over the next month, review their proposals and choose one Feb. 23, said authority Treasurer Ellen McLean, the city's finance director. Disclosure: The firms: U.S. Water LLC; CH2M Hill/OMI; USFilter; United Water and American Water are all active Board Members of the Water Industry Council and Sponsoring Members of the National Council of Public Private Partnerships. |
