home Bob Nason is now running the North Adams, MA, DPW. Apparently no one is in a hurry to replace former Supervisor Ken LaBier. The principal issue before the DPW and North Adams is the process of outsourcing the town sewer and water system. “The head of the water
treatment plant did some investigating about U.S. Filter and discovered
that taxpayers will be paying a 4 to 7 percent increase if privatization
passes. But that information has disappeared.” According to a local
DPW worker named Jeff Ferrin. Ferrin is a seasonal employee of the town
who has been overlooked three times for a full-time job. He questioned
why public hearings on the subject, promised by the Selectboard last
May, have not been forthcoming. |
