National Emergency Response
for water systems
The effects of hurricane Katrina
has left many water and wastewater utilities in
the southeastern United States damaged.
Water Security Channel (WaterSC)
is aware that many other utilities are willing to assist during
the upcoming and possibly lengthy recovery period by offering
equipment, hardware and expertise.
WaterSC, DHS and EPA recommend that the National Emergency
Resource Registry (NERR) be used during the recovery. The NERR
is a DHS centralized database that allows needs and resources to
be matched.
Utilities affected by the storm may list their recovery
requests.
Utilities and organizations with
offers of help may register their available
resources.
To register your needs or resources, please:
- Access www.swern.gov
- On the right side of the
screen you will see a box entitled National Emergency
Resource Registration.
- Select New NERR Member.
- Complete the form to register
your organization.
- Select Add a Resource or Add a
Request.
- Select Water/Wastewater from
the dropdown menu.
- Select your specific resource
or need.
